The Inn on Washington Square is a beautiful Greek Revival style home, built in 1850. The Inn is located in the heart of Salem, overlooking Salem Common, and the lovely historical homes surrounding it.

Here at the Inn we strive to provide our guests with the utmost in privacy and relaxation. Our deluxe rooms have romantic, canopy or four poster beds, each with private bath and some with a jacuzzi tub.

To further ensure your relaxation, these rooms also have a TV and VCR. and air conditioning. A library of videos for your enjoyment during your stay at the Inn is accessible at all times. Each evening a basket of baked goods is delivered to your door for the next day’s breakfast. An intimate table for two is in your room.  Coffee or tea can be made in your personal coffeemaker, or if you prefer, freshly brewed coffee is available each morning in the main sitting area.

With a luxurious, four poster, king size canopy bed, fireplace, two-person jacuzzi and private bath, this is the perfect room for an anniversary, honeymoon or any special occasion.

Garden Room
This spacious room, with a king size bed and private bath, also has a large, private deck - a wonderful place to unwind at the end of the day and watch the sunset.

Common Room
This romantic room has a queen size canopy bed, private bath and overlooks Salem Common and the lovely, historical homes surrounding it.

Things To Do

Salem Common
The Inn on Washington Square, located in the heart of historic Salem, Massachusetts is just steps away from The Heritage Walking Trail, which will take you past all of Salem’s historic sites, the waterfront, quaint little shops, and fine restaurants.

Visit the world-renowned Peabody Essex Museum, and The House of the Seven Gables.  There are many harbor cruises and fishing trips available, or for even more adventure, take a trip out into the ocean on an exciting whale watch with guaranteed sightings and a naturalist on board to answer all of your questions.

If you wish to venture farther afield, the train to Boston and Cape Ann is walking distance from the Inn. The most historic places in New England, including Concord and Lexington, are all just a short drive away.
Policies
  • Two night minimum on all weekends. Four night minimum during Haunted Happenings in October.
  • Three night minimum and special rates apply on the following holidays : Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day.
  • Room rates based on double occupancy.
  • We accept Mastercard, Visa and American Express.
Directions 
From the North:
Follow Route 95 south to the Route 128 North Exit. Off of Route 128 take Exit 25A onto Route 114 East. Follow 114 East for 2.5 miles. Take a right onto Route 107 North for .6 miles. Take a right onto 1A South (Winter Street) Go to the end of Winter Street and bear left at Salem Common.  After bearing left, The Inn on Washington Square is the last house on your left, directly on the corner..
From the South:
Follow Route 95 North (which is also 128 North). After Exit 44 the highway splits, stay on Route 128 North which bears to the left. The exit numbers then drop into the twenties. Take Exit 25A onto Route 114 East. Follow 114 East for 2.5 miles. Take a right onto Route 107 North for .6 miles. Take a right onto 1A South (Winter Street) Go to the end of Winter Street and bear left at Salem Common. After bearing left, The Inn on Washington Square is the last house on your left, directly on the corner.
Directions from Boston and Logan Airport:
Leaving Boston, follow signs for Logan Airport and the Callahan Tunnel. As  you exit the tunnel follow Route 1A North. Follow Route 1A North to Salem. As you arrive in Salem, you will pass Salem State College. Continue on Route 1A (also called Lafayette Street), to the end of Lafayette Street, you will see a fire station on the far left corner. Turn right here, continuing on Route 1A (Derby Street) to the next intersection. Turn left here (still on Route 1A) and go past the Hawthorne Hotel on your right.  As soon as you pass the hotel you will be on Washington Square North. Follow this road to the second stop sign, keeping Salem Common on your right. When you get to the second stop sign The Inn will be on your left, directly on the corner. It is approximately a 40 minute ride from Boston.
From Logan Airport: 
Exit the airport and follow signs for Route 1A North. Once on Route 1A North, follow directions above. Logan Airport is just outside Boston on the North side.
